But we know that in the future, if, God forbid, we run out of money, our children can be counted upon to support us financially. We will not expect them to give up their flourishing careers abroad and give up everything and come back just to take care of us. Their priorities should be their own children. If the situation calls for us to have our children with us, we will move to their places, not expect them to uproot themselves and come to live with us. Coming to the actual question, we do not regret anything. We are proud to have done our duty to our children. We are happy about their success. We are happy that they are doing better than we did for ourselves. We did not have our children and think of them as an investment and expect returns on this investment during our old age. We had our children for experiencing the joy of parenthood, for the opportunity to shower our love and attention on them, and for watching them grow, into talented, educated, responsible people. Our children did not ask to be born. We brought them into this world without their permission. We have not done them any favour by raising them. That was our duty. They owe us nothing.
