Innovation is an important driver of growth, and many technology leaders aspire to build capabilities that can deliver sustained innovation. But they have a steep hill to climb: A quarter of CIOs who participated in Deloitte’s most recent global CIO survey say their innovation capabilities are nonexistent. Only 11 percent assessed their current innovation capabilities as excellent or leading. Here are 10 reasons innovation initiatives are lagging and what IT leaders can do about it. 1. Defensive posture In the global CIO survey, “resistance to change” was cited as the top reason technology change efforts fail. Investments in unproven or disruptive technologies are often viewed as risky, and business leaders are typically more comfortable with “safe” investments such as enhancements to existing technologies. The workaround? Collaborate with business leaders on balancing technology investments across both defensive and offensive pursuits. Strive to create a culture that encourages and supports creative thinking and rewards effort more than outcome, and clearly articulate the organization’s risk appetite so staff can take calculated risks. [ Looking to upgrade your career in tech? This comprehensive online course teaches you how. ] 2. Lack of sponsorship and accountability Without visible sponsorship from one or more senior leaders, innovation efforts are bound to flounder. High-level support helps prevent innovation efforts from becoming bogged down by organizational politics, lack of resources, and stunted budgets. Moreover, executive sponsors can help clearly articulate expectations and hold people accountable for delivering business outcomes. 3. Lack of capacity to deliver Too often, technology leaders ask their best talent to split time between managing business operations and participating in innovation initiatives. As a result, the most effective innovation resources lack capacity or get distracted by their “day jobs.” Effective executive sponsorship can allow IT leaders to allocate their best resources, even on a rotational basis, to be focused on driving business outcomes. Dedicated budget and resources for innovation can reduce the risk for individual business areas and provide cohesive solutions. 4. Singular focus on technology Even when they genuinely believe a technology will change the business, technology leaders often make technology decisions without a deep understanding of business issues. As a result, innovation efforts can be viewed as an experimental science lab that rarely returns substantive value. To overcome this obstacle, technology teams should co-create business solutions; that is, they should bring business functions into the process of experimentation and iteration. 5. Disjointed ownership and lack of constraints Continuity of effort and steady focus are hallmarks of effective innovation initiatives. Leaders should allow the person or team that generated an idea to remain actively involved throughout the process, creating continuity and providing valuable historical context. More important, successful innovation initiatives provide clear operational guard-rails. For example, a pharmaceutical company approved any project that could be prototyped in three months, make an impact on more than 10,000 customers, and cost less than $50,000. 6. Not-invented-here syndrome Organizations that don’t look for innovation beyond their own walls limit their ability to operate and win in the marketplace. IT leaders have traditionally relied on vendors to augment work but are increasingly leveraging the whole ecosystem for delivering innovation. Startups and innovation hubs can provide access to leading thinkers and inventors; universities and research centers can provide a peek at the future; and online marketplaces and platforms enable businesses to engage with suppliers, vendors, partners, and even customers to co-create products and services. See what IT leaders need to do to fix work SponsoredPost Sponsored by Workplace by Facebook See what IT leaders need to do to fix work IT leaders know that work isn’t working for millions of employees. How do they fix it? 7. Out-of-sync efforts Innovation often requires the whole organization to work in concert. For example, the strategy organization defines the playing field, R&D provides the vehicles for innovation to flourish, and technology provides the tools to support innovative projects. If the functional areas are out of sync, business leaders may create skunkworks innovation projects, which typically operate in silos and can create potential integration, security, and scalability issues. A coordinated governing body across business and functional areas can alleviate these problems. 8. Bias toward process over speed New technologies and techniques have rendered traditional sequential innovation processes obsolete. For example, a traditional innovation process would view prototyping and scaling as distinct, sequential activities. Today, cloud platforms offer instantly flexible and scalable infrastructure, allowing teams to create prototypes with built-in scalability. Teams that don’t consider scaling until after a successful prototype is created could be wasting valuable time and adding risk to the process. 9. Expectation of different results from the same talent It’s not enough to allocate funding and resources for innovation. To change behaviors and demonstrate what “good” looks like, technology leaders should infuse their organizations with talent driven to think creatively and take intelligent risks. Savvy IT leaders don’t limit this infusion to new talent but look across their ecosystem to determine how to infuse this mindset into existing IT talent and culture — whether through hiring, partnering, or bringing in contractors or freelancers. 10. Failure to measure The metrics used to measure the success of innovation initiatives are different from those used to measure the success of traditional business initiatives and should be clearly constructed so they don’t thwart innovation. One company used a “metric of one” — a single significant success that made an impact on one major business unit in one year. Whether it’s 1 million customers or $100 million in revenue, having a single major metric can help you tell your organization’s innovation story more effectively.
guys – over last couple of days, we have enquired with a couple of sharda owners (can give u the flat nos on fone) plus raman our agent sunil(opp sharda gate). the going rate for equivalent unit is def upwards of 75K INCLUDING maintenance, acc to the findings.
the next rent agreement is due only from 1 sept 2025 onwards, but since u guys desired an advance heads-up, am giving you our expected figure now itself.
just a few points –
- we have a similar unit in gopalan square, and are conversant with the rates there as well
- the deposit amount we are holding for flat C303, is a bare minimum, equivalent to two months of rent (130K)
- the assn maintenance increased last year by about 12K per half-year. so nowadays we pay about 7.5k approx per month towards maintenance.
- during july-aug 2024, each unit paid Rs 1L towards painting/renovation ( this is just fyi)
net-net, our expectation is 75K INCLUDING MAINTENANCE. happy to discuss on fone as per ur convenience.
Foreign HR Practices in India
- Employment Contracts: While India doesn’t mandate a written employment contract, companies should use contracts to limit risk and define employment terms and conditions.
- Wages: Employers should audit their wage structure periodically to ensure it remains competitive and compliant with prevailing laws.
- Termination of Employment: Employees can only be terminated as per the terms and conditions within their employment contract.
- Maternity and Paternity Leave: The Maternity Benefits (Amendment) Act, 2017 applies to all shops and establishments that employ over 10 workers.
- Prevention of Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: An Internal Complaints Committee must be set up by all organizations with more than 10 employees.
- HR Policies: Companies should draft appropriate HR policies and ensure they are clearly communicated to all personnel. HR personnel should organize workshops or sensitization programs to promote a fair and safe working environment.
India’s Public Holidays and Work Weeks
- India observes three national holidays: Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti.
- All institutions must remain closed on these days, with government approval required.
- Certain establishments, like factories and industries, can operate over 24 hours across 365 days.
- Firms must inform the annual list of holidays and weekly offs available to employees.
- The Factories Act, 1948 provides for the maximum number of work hours and overtime wages.
Restrictive Clauses in Employment Contracts
- Restrictive clauses in employment contracts may not be enforceable through Indian courts.
- Examples include non-compete, non-disclosure, non-solicitation, and ‘garden leave’ clauses.
- Ensuring enforceability requires restricting the scope of clauses.
Gutuary and Provident Fund
- The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 provides guidelines for gratuity owed to an employee.
- The Employees Provident Fund Organization of India (EPFO) oversees and regulates the EPF.
- The EPF scheme is mandatory for a salary below Rs 15,000 (US$220) and voluntary thereafter.
Impact of Digitalization
- Workplaces are becoming increasingly virtual, requiring real-time employee information.
- HR departments have expanded to use digital technology for recruitment, learning and development, and day-to-day administration.
- Business leaders should consider affordable integrated software solutions that automate HR administration and payroll.
Adaptive Work Culture
- Job seekers are moving away from traditional work modes to a more holistic view of career development.
- Organizations are incorporating work-life balance into their corporate culture.
- Adaptive HR departments are key to cultivating organizational values and fostering a balance between employee satisfaction and productivity.
Foreign companies entering India should review local HR costs and practices before entering the country. Key areas to consider include employment contracts, wages, termination of employment, maternity and paternity leave, and preventing sexual harassment in the workplace.
Indian employment laws are diverse and complex, and employers must navigate these laws carefully when constructing contracts. Wages should be compliant with prevailing laws, such as the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, the Code on Wages Bill, 2019, the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976, and The Payment of Wages Act, 1936. Termination without notice is prohibited, and termination periods vary by function and length of employment.
Maternity and paternity leave is available under the Maternity Benefits (Amendment) Act, 2017, and companies employing more than 50 people must provide crèche services. The Paternity Benefits Bill, 2017 is set to be discussed in the next parliamentary session, but many organizations, like Microsoft and IKEA, already include a mutually decided paternity leave clause within their company policy.
To ensure employee safety, companies must draft appropriate HR policies, organize workshops or sensitization programs, and promote an organizational culture that provides a fair and safe working environment.

Government approval is required for organizations to operate on these days, and only certain establishments can operate over 24 hours across 365 days. Firms must inform the annual list of holidays and weekly offs available to employees each year, and the number of leaves and categories of leave must be explained in the employee contract. Do You Know the Real Power of Your Gotra?
Not a ritual. Not superstition. It’s your ancient code.
Read this full thread like your past depends on it.
- Gotra is Not Your Surname. It’s Your Spiritual DNA.
You know what’s crazy?
Most of us don’t even know what Gotra we belong to.
We think it’s just some line Panditji says during puja. But it’s not that at all.
Your Gotra means – which Rishi’s mind you are connected to.
Not by blood. But by thought, energy, frequency, and knowledge.
Every Hindu is spiritually traced back to a Rishi (sage). That Rishi is your intellectual ancestor. His wisdom, his mental pattern, his inner frequency – all flow through you.
- Gotra Doesn’t Mean Caste.
People today mix it up.
Gotra is NOT about Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, or Shudra.
It existed before caste, before surnames, even before kingdoms.
It’s the most ancient system of identity – based on knowledge, not power.
Everyone had a Gotra – even Rishis gave Gotras to students who adopted their teachings sincerely. It was earned through learning.
So no – Gotra is not a label.
It’s a stamp of spiritual heritage.
- Every Gotra Comes from a Rishi – A Supermind
Let’s say you’re from Vashishtha Gotra.
That means your ancestral Rishi was Vashishtha Maharishi – the same sage who guided Lord Ram and even King Dasharatha.
Same way, Bharadwaj

Raama – i have written in our group so many times earlier too. “Lexical similarity coefficient” (LSC) measures similarity of 1 language with another. This uses the global repository https://wals.info/feature gindi and gujarathi have a very high LSC, 0.78 if i remember correctly. also gindi and punjabi in india gindi and thamizh has the lowest LSC, less than 0.05, the next lowest is more than 0.2 if i remember right. English and Russian, for example, have a LSC of 0.24 – see this table – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexical_similarity#Indo-European_languages When you go to an English speaker and tell him – hey, 0.24 is good, u can learn russian easily – he will laugh at u. what is the fate of the 0.05 LSC people like gindi-thamizh ???? which is why – and i dont want to say the same fucking thing again and again and again – CAN U POINT OUT TO ME ONE PERSON WHO IS A NATIVE HINDIAN LIVING IN UP/BIHAR/MP, WHO SPEAKS REASONABLE THAMIZH ???? ONE PERSON, MY FRIEND !
NO WONDER THE TWO HONCHOS ARE GUNNING FOR GINDI. FOR THEM, COMING FROM GUJARAT, IT IS EASY MEAT – WITH A LSC of 0.78 !!!!!
i wrote this in a friends’ group – maybe pertinent to the ongoing political tussle. just for ur reading. —— Raama – i have written in our group so many times earlier too. “Lexical similarity coefficient” (LSC) measures similarity of 1 language with another. pl remember this – the LSC (between Thamizh and Gindi) for a sanskritised brahmin elite household from bengaluru ( like raama’s), wud be far different from the same LSC figure for a rural TN student. arriving at a math model, therefore, is so complicated that no one has tried.
hv been reading up to speed ( last 10 days news) – on nep, 3-language formula, stalin’s fight and so on.i just signed up a bet on 2026 tn assembly elections, with my friends. bjp had got between 4 and 7% voteshare in previous elections. in 2021, they got 11.2%. so i have betted thus – if bjp secures>5% in this upcoming election, i will pay my 3 friends 10k each ( and reverse if not). anyone wants to wager with me ( suresh?). no need to go on rhetoric on 3lf ( 3 language formula, its benefits😃, why bjp is an angel etc etc), lets keep it simple ! just a simple bet, if anyone is ready!🙠My intelligence, then, is not absolute but is a function of the society I live in and of the fact that a small subsection of that society has managed to foist itself on the rest as an arbiter of such matters I read this 2 times. just cud not understand. but txs for the fwd Hasina. when u find time, write about ur marathon today wedding groom/bride name =
