ttt adding for napad reference – 1. baby visit 2. vegetable fields and collection 3. vip temple darshan 4. special andhra meals at the katte house 5. can combine with visit to mulbagal mutt ( our original mutt) 6. watch gud new telugu movie in punganur theatre 7. only 3 hrs max from blr… ( plus, if tirupati open by then, can combine just saw the 2 videos of SA. just did not realise earlier she is so talented in drawing also. of course we all know her singing talent. waiting for her to upload “unnale unnale” and the ajit-shalini song – kaettaen song (?). i have also subscribed to SA’s youtube channel. and her voice sounds so much like usha akka of 30 years back amma – it is *”bhaaratha thayae potri potri” *. let us try to use our mother-language to praise our mother-land varmalakshmi festival snaps by each family – very happy to see all the photos. really great that the traditions were observed inspite of many difficulties outside in road. lot of effort to get all the items from market. lot of enthu by old generation (sampa dhodamma). each house had many big arrangements – decorated thengai, goddess idol, pazham (pomegranate, apple, mango etc) and poo, kuthu vilakku, ilai, palagai decoration, rava laddu and other sweets offered to god (including gv aunty’s favourite 7-cup cake!), aambodai, milk, anna-bele, vazhai ilai, vethalai paakku, full thiri plate, podavai for goddess, paayasam, kolam, etc, etc etc. for first varalakshmi habba of adi-mala, napad celebrated with full force – aachar, festival oota, photographer (mukund), photographer assistant (raghu). it was wonderful seeing all snaps/videos on whatsapp. warm festival greetings to all of you (also for forthcoming ones – thalai aavani aavattam, krishna jayanthi, pillayar chathurthi ur elder singam is preparing himself to eat “chicken seek kabab” later in life. So aambadai is just practice very sweet voice, shruthi. krishna nicely invited into the house ! and very nice photos alongwith the song (and in sync also – eg the “ponguzha” lyric when krishna is shown with the cows). maybe “master PA” In case anyone wants to give donation for Ram temple at Ayodhya – pl find details below *Prema made the first donation today to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra at home was an inspiration for u to sing this government has exempted donations made to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust created for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, from income tax for the financial year 2020-21. In a notification issued Friday, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) allowed tax exemption to donations under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act, on the grounds that the structure would be a “place of historic importance and a place of public worship”. Under this, 100% of donations made by taxpayers to this trust would be allowed as deduction while computing their taxable income, subject to maximum limit of 10% of their gross total income, experts said. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra was set up as a trust for the purpose of the construction of the temple, following the Supreme Court decision in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case hi anand- am not able to remember receiving the seed balls. sorry to have missed. wud have loved to plant them. trust things are great at ur end at c’gard. napad will be eager to hear about ur North/interior india experiences-the hindi communication problems, the cultural differences, ur “madrasi” tag, the food and how u are managing etc. when u find time, do write a long note. and if possible, some photos of ur factory ur town great to know Anjana’s upcoming program. am also eager to hear from the esteemed panelists ! 1. can u later send a youtube link later of the “recorded” program ? reason – YT Live only does “autogenerated captions”. as someone who does not understand american accent, it wud really be great if a “manually transcripted” CC is inserted later on YT, so that we can catch every word! 2. i will also send link to my friends/contacts. grateful if any brief profile of AAC is given, to give them the correct context. but once again, pl convey best wishes to her. her confidence in the teaser rocks I never asked for “translation”! my request was – the program is in YouTube ” live”. anjana and most others’s accent may be difficult to follow, so I will anyway switch on the “autocaptions” mode, which gives automatic subtitles. the problem here is – the accuracy is quite less, ie about 70% max, since it generates subtiles real time. on the other hand, many YouTube videos have “uploaded subtitles” where the uploader also uploads the manual “text transcript” of the video, so that correct subtitles appear during the course of video. in fact, this is how I see English movies on TV in India ( I never watch without English subtilte, bcos I simply can’t understand otherwise). hope my qn 1 is clear now. qn 2 ( repeat)- is anjana doing the program towards any course requirement? if so, what are her interests? what are her career aspirations etc? so a small intro wud help us contextualise better, is what I thought hi aruna, 1. it was an excellent effort by anjana and team, and warmest congrats. there must also have been lots of learnings/gaps also which can be implemented in future endeavours. but superb start ! 2. “full notes” of the program are given below (it wud help those who did not attend, and also those like me who dont follow american english too much !). pl do add any imp points that i wud have missed. 3. my suggestion is to request your video uploader (tvasia) to quickly “disable comments”. for those of u who are IT leaders, u wud understand this pt better – the topic keywords themselves attract unnecessary and inappropriate *spam-bots*. so lets stay safe, online as well ! —————— *full notes* – personal insights and own stories – create more awareness around mental health challenges – humble attempt by students – initiative with a goal of addressing some top student concerns – questions on overall health and wellness – disclaimer = reco should not be used in place of a proper medical advice diagnosis or treatment – intro of all participants, ie diverse set of workforce – challenging time for us – how to deal with the uncertainty. minimize watching listening and reading articles on covid19, make u anxious and distressed, follow only trusted sources, follow them 1-2 times a day, help neighbours, motivate urself with stories of covid warriors, discuss with family and use chance to bond, engage urself in ur passion. now is chance since no hectic schedule, have healthy mindset, positive outlook, proper time to sleep, dress up and sit in front of your laptop the way you are going to school, have proper healthy habits proper food habits, proper physical activities in your daily routine, stay connected with your friends and family, life is so short, u have to accomplish something, every day counts, look at that kind of larger picture, u will not have time to worry for the small issues that you know, end of the day look at a larger goal, complete your like tasks, what makes the critical path, identify the larger purpose of your life, fix up a target for yourself, make a project plan for your life, challenge your mindset, sometimes u feel like running out of time because goals are larger than can handle, know the environment – good percent of people much bigger problems, we are all very privileged, spend time with son and wife, however uncertain times, we’re all stressed about it but stee is ok, we were stressed back in 2008/2009, we came back strong, we’ll all find our ways in which we can navigate these uncertainties, post corona world will be ok, continuously think about learning in any environment, it does not matter if physically present in college or not, just keep updating your skill set, there will be an opportunity that knocks your door, just have to be patient for that – when the whole world is screaming negative things, it is hard to have a positive outlook, remember that it is something transient, just a phase, it is going to pass on soon, secondly focus on something that is within your control, dont fear, you will very soon be accomplishing a lot of things instead of just sitting and complaining, beware that that it is very easy to slip into the gaps – eg video games etc. but this is the time to follow your passion, you can read you can do research, take help from siblings/parents, invest in yourself and your family, absolutely staying optimistic and maintain a positive attitude – approaching the subject of mental health is difficult, earlier exposure to mental health education was much lesser, have a honest conversation with your parents, not going to be easy, you shouldn’t be expecting results from the same first conversation, but a continued dialogue with your parents is going to be helpful, re remember your parents are also going through a significant mental crisis, they also have work and families, they have financial things to take care of, it is not easy for them also – mental health is not taboo, articles written from celebrities to global leaders, our parents grew up in a differnt time with less avenues, they did not go thru many things u are going thru, eg – today so much time commuting, eg of being bulled in school bus, so it was pretty bad for me, it was traumatic, similarly you get these pressures from multiple directions, earlier you do a small mistake and 5 people talk about and move on. but now it is recorded. students are at a constant pressure all the time, lack of face-to-face communication. so i will be compassionate about this and open a conversation, understand this from a parent perspective as well, um well it’s absolutely understandable. let parents know how you feel – you feel scared you feel embarrassed etc. parents most of the time are very empathetic and understanding um and non-judgmental to their children. reach out and let them know that u want to talk to them, they will be willing to give you their ears. important to express them ur thoughts calmly. take help of a family member who you think you trust and can confide in. they will speak to your parents on your behalf – make the parents understand that there is a problem. acceptance is 1st step. nothing unusual for children to feel a little down. absence of physical interactions is going to put off children, parents must be encouraged to spend. very bad method to just allow them to surf on the net. engage them meaningfully by some playing some games, telling some stories, healthy family gossips, children will need a lot of parental guidance eg making assignments. parents also will have to do a little bit of reading. mind issues are a combination of multiple impact of lot of organs in your body. environment you you are part of. make them realize that change, tthey would start accepting. there shud be no denial of mental health issue – feeling lazy and sick – let parents know how you feel, dont feel scared that they’re not going to understand you. it’s perfectly normal to feel down and out when your movements are terribly restricted. it’s very important to maintain a normal lifestyle by interacting with people, do exercise, dont spend too much time watching movies, concentrate on your personality, keeping a tab on your diet, maintaining a healthy meals at regular intervals and doing regular exercises, go up to the terrace and do an exercise in the open without wearing a mask, allocate proper timing for your work for rest and social interactions. keep ourselves properly engaged, requires a completely new approach to deal with the issues, u may feel bored, not worthy, anxiety etc. accept this and adapt to the new norm. everyone should have an insight about what’s causing these issues. then most of the issues would dissolve by themselves – set goals necessary for your career, be much more disciplined, just a passing cloud, schedule your physical activity into your daily routine, do some outdoor activities like a simple walk or bicycling, dont feel confined, spread of virus also increases mental and emotional health challenges, approx one in five americans lives with mental illness, many adolescents had at least one major depressive episode. squash the stigma and get help out there. easy to speak with a medical professional eg telemedicine, management of symptoms which can be addressed at home. address people’s problems and especially their anxiety. sometimes this technological advancement may not be accessible and affordable to a significant section of the society. on other hand – invasion of privacy or ethical issues. focus on health care, increased percentage of gdp spent by government in infrastructure of intensive care, change in mindset of people on hygiene, more awareness. unfortunately many people not coming to hospital for other illnesses bcos of fear of covid. eg hip replacement hernia surgery postponed. lack of activity means diabetes hypertension. this situation would change early next year. doctors have been allocated to work in a completely different field, so re-train/ re-learn. people started adopting technology. as an opportunity – healthcare industry getting more attention, attention to it has gone up multiple times. next decade it is going to be big thing – line blended between professional and personal life, missing going back to work, meeting colleagues next to each other, jokes. virtual coaching sessions. pl be e flexible to learn technology and leverage remote learning, maintain strong mental health. think of how do people who lost their jobs continue to support their households. but note that there is no magic wand – we must find out alternative employment/develop new skills. there is no shortcut. difficult situation. but worry about things that are in our control and not beyond. staying positive, focus on reflect in our life careers , we cant change past but basic support systems you need to have, make yourself self sustainable, thousands of examples to convert challenge into opportunity, just keep moving – this is a transient phase. start working on yourself – analysis of strengths and weaknesses. when situation gets better the job opportunities are going to come behind you. remotely tutor younger kids. help your parents on their chores. there are paid internships also. – masks. safety protocols. avoid gatherings or eating in crowded places. grab-and-go meal / self-service stations / washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds / people tend to pull down their masks to the neck / inner surface of the mask gets unsterile/ you can have a semblance of physical contact by meeting your uh friends on their driveway / eg – i usually drop into my neighbors and honk and they come out of their front door / do hybrid courses/ take it one day at a time / many religions have their own rituals for a closure or death / we understand that it is incredibly difficult not able to connect with other members of the family and share their grief / once life purpose is done we have to say goodbye to this world ! / eg – i forgot my dad and time is great healer / you have a larger purpose / learn from loss in your family / understand the value that you still have them in your life / death actually teaches us that life is so short but make it pleasant / we understand that covid deaths are a very harrowing experience / best way to support is non verbal / be available for them to cry on / accept it and stay strong – sports and techniques / new methods of testing are coming up where we can find out before a contact sport is initiated whether all the persons are free from any coronary infection / eg soccer – maintain a good strength of quadriceps and back / doing regular exercises in the backyard /concentrate on your dribbling skills and ball control skills and heading skills – these can be done in solitude / if you are academically minded, a lot of information on soccer strategies / new environment that we have to deal with / lot of noise and disturbances etc / deal with productivity issues – don’t think coronavirus has affected teamwork . it is a blessing in disguise during these critical times / trying to move to virtual solutions / checking in on your friends requires some initiative from our end as well / communication is key / upskilling yourself reflect on your life your career so far and see what you need to upskill yourself, since skills is the need of the hour / stay positive / negative emotions is a vicious cycle / being positive is easier said than done / encouragement that you get from others will make the same virtual endless loop go in positive direction – summary, references, amount raised, next episodes etc 17/08/20, 3:54 pm – Sathish: warmest anniversary greetings to harish, shwetha. are the mom,kid v back from punganur? have a safe year ahead! 17/08/20, 6:28 pm – Sathish: hi abhi – i read all ur poems today. after going thru all, i cud only think of srikanth in nanban (wild life photographer, who was forced to take up engineering !). but no harm done. we will still await ur publication of “collection of abhi poems” and it shall become a best-seller ! – most poems are about a significant life event/person. shows ur deep sensitivity – my personal favourite is “amma”. it was fantastic. – there are a few ones like “miss to mrs” which can be vastly improved ! – invariably, ur punch-lines (climax at end of poem) work well, and great ! – some of the poems show ur state of mind – rumination, introspection – and they are the best of the lot – a big positive – ur poems are so simple and easy to digest, and talk of everyday matters – small suggestion – pl do not be always feel compelled to make the line endings rhyme all the time – just go with the flow ! – sometimes of course a reader might have different opinions abt ur views (eg – blr vs chennai), but then, the poet has the last word ! keep going, and keep writing. we shall spread the word
