ttt Kindly respond to my query of yesterday. Repeating the same – “Is there a way to retain JetPack Search’s free tier of 5K records by restricting indexing to only these 5K records, irrespective of how many more records (posts) I create in my site ? ” will keep pinging till i obtain a response. I apologise in advance for the same ! ———- I have one question and need one help. I will identify some other search plugin for my requirement ( since 5K character-limit in title, does not work for me). Am currently at 5K records(posts). I will create 8K more posts(records). I dont want u guys to bill me for it, since i dont need those 8K records be searched/indexed. Pl tell me what i need to do, and how to configure stuff, in order for your automatic billing trigger NOT to give me a further surprise (since my credit card is embedded in your account). Repeat – i dont need ur search engine to work beyond the existing 5K records ( in free tier) ( though i will create 8K new records, or maybe more) On Wed, 16 Jul 2025 at 21:10, WordPress.com Support wrote: Tamirat B. (Jetpack) Jul 16, 2025, 15:40 UTC Hi Sathish, Thanks again for your follow-up. I’ve merged your new ticket into the existing thread we’ve got here. It helps us to keep it all together so that we have all the information in one place. Please reply to this email directly with any future questions or feedback about this. We’ve confirmed with the Jetpack Search team that the indexing behavior you’re seeing is due to a cap on how much content gets included in the field used for search. In your case, your post title exceeds our internal 5,000-character limit for titles – a safeguard put in place to help prevent abuse and spam. While the overall record limit is 30,000 characters, anything beyond that title limit isn’t included in the searchable content. You’re right that this specific limit hasn’t been documented, and we’ve flagged that internally for correction. Regarding the cart wording around “every additional 10k records”: you’re correct, the free tier includes 5k, and the first paid tier increases that to 10k total, not 15k. We’re reviewing how to clarify this in both the documentation and checkout experience. Regarding pricing, while we’re not able to offer custom plan configurations, we’d be happy to offer you some Blaze ad credits, which you can use to promote your content: https://jetpack.com/support/blaze/ Hi Stef, Thanks for your response, and apologise for sounding a bit harsh in my earlier mail. I am just a poor school teacher sitting in one corner of rural India, and the prospect of paying lots of money towards JP Search worries me, hence my frustration. 1. Will await your engg team response on the 30K. If the product team DOES acknowledge the presence of a knowledge gap as well as the 30k issue, then I will only plead with you to offer me a hefty coupon code. From my side, i pledge to purchase a new 10K tier for 2 years immediately on hearing from you. 2. In my mind, the “documentation wording problem” still exists elsewhere. When i went to the Jetpack search purchase option, the sentence i saw was this : —– Pay only for what you need. ₹489.95 per every additional 10k records and/or requests per month” —– You may also check this exact wording yourself Now, this sentence meaning is problematic. I already have 5K free tier with me. So I assumed that i need to pay Rs 489.95 for the additional 10K records. Which means => once i pay up, i shall get 15K of indexed records available for me. But that is not what i see in another documentation. It says that once i pay, i get an additional 5K only, ie, my total limit would become 5k+5K=10K only. Now this is again a serious twist in lingo, and anyone would object to this, since only at checkout time, you see the new sentence —– Jetpack Search ₹9,407.04 Plan Subscription: ₹9,407.04 per two years Up to 10k records and/or requests per month ——- Please clarify this point as well. I shall remain hoping that Jetpack/WP/Automatikk makes an exception and offers me a deal/large coupon/offer with which i shall live out my next two years of Search. Regards, Sathish ps : As a non-technical person, i had started my site thru WP.com some years back ( without quite understanding the difference between self-hosting and otherwise), and i am petrified to transfer the site to some other provider etc etc ( what if i lose my plugins ? what if i lose my settings ? etc etc). Anyway, all that i need is Search functionality. Both SearchWP and IvorySearch could not satisfy my requirement, and hence i have made my choice with JP, inspite of your extraordinary costs. Leave the matter to u. We’re still waiting for our product team to shed some good lights about the 5k/30k character limits, and we’ll address that accordingly depending on their reply. For the moment, we need to ask you to bear with us on this, but I am happy to answer the other questions you asked in your reply. I’ll do it one by one as follows. **** 4. I wanted to purchase Jetpack Complete. But i was dissuaded / advised against buying it by your own people ( pl refer to the chat/mail transcript), since a lot of duplication exists between my current Business plan ( for which i already pay a large amount to WP monthly) and the Jetpack complete I see that your site is hosted here on WordPress.com, so the Busienss plan you have at the moment is the best solutuion you can get, as far as I can see. Jetpack plans are made and designed for sites that are hosted on third-party hosting providers, and running on WordPress.org instead. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different as you can see from this prospect we’ve put together to clear out any confusion: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ Therefore, you won’t be able to use a Jetpack plan on your site, unless you: move the site on a third-party host and transfer the site on WordPress.org you have a different site on WordPress.org to connect with Jetpack **** 5. Your documentation also talks about a plan called Jetpack Professional. I am NOT able to see any pricing for this version. The Professional plan was a subscription we used to offer a little while ago, and that we retired in favour of our new plans offer. Our documentation still mentions legacy plans as we still have many customers using them, so they may need to gather information about features and troubleshooting actions. **** 6. You are yourself agreeing below that a “free” tier may be incapable of indexing depth, which again has not been mentioned anywhere in your documentation That is something we’re still investigating with our product team. If you happen to be right, that would flag a knowledge gap in our documentation, proving you right! **** The WP team is so inflexible in terms of offering a sweet deal for a long-standing customer, and someone who just wants more records to index and nothing more. The WP team sends out a standard templated response, where you are not even ready to consider a custom solution for me. I completely hear your point about wanting a more tailored option, especially as a long-standing customer who only needs a specific part of the service. I know it can feel disappointing to get a reply that sounds “templated” when you were hoping for more flexibility. Right now, we do our best to keep things simple and fair by offering clear plan tiers rather than custom, one-off setups. This helps us keep our support consistent and ensure the service stays reliable for everyone, but I do see that this approach can feel restrictive when you have a very specific use case. I’ve made a note of your feedback, and I’ll be sure to share it with the team, especially in light of the 5k/30k characters issue we’re investigating. **** Hope that answers your questions! We’ll circle back to you once we hear from our product team. Let me know if there’s anything else we can do to help meanwhile. Hi Tamirat / others, 1. I dont think you are right, since i am hitting a hard stop at “5000 characters” in the title. There is no mention of “5000” anywhere in the documentation. 2. I have now removed all the post_content in the sample record – saro22.com/a4983. Now, only the title text is present in the record, which totals to about 6800 characters. 3. So, if you want you are saying is right, the last few words of this title should also be searchable. So, i will wait for some 1 hour for the indexing to be complete, and then try a search again. ——– There are a few more points i want to bring to your notice 4. I wanted to purchase Jetpack Complete. You are yourself agreeing below that a “free” tier may be incapable of indexing depth, which again has not been mentioned anywhere in your documentation ———- IT IS MORE THAN AN HOUR SINCE I HAVE DONE THE NEEDFUL WRT POINT NO 2 AND 3 ABOVE. I AM STILL NOT ABLE TO SEARCH FOR THE WHOLE WORD AROUND THE 5020TH CHARACTER IN MY SAMPLE saro22.com/a4983 So all your claims about the 30K limit fall flat. You are now going to come back to me suddenly proclaiming a sublimit of 5K for title. I can forsee this. —— The WP team is so inflexible in terms of offering a sweet deal for a long-standing customer, and someone who just wants more records to index and nothing more. The WP team sends out a standard templated response, where you are not even ready to consider a custom solution for me. And now, we have you guys not documenting a MOST BASIC tenet of the Search Product. Because of my not knowing this earlier, I have made the mistake of cancelling my “SearchWP” subscription with a small loss to me. If i turn out to be right ( I will anyway await your investigative message after this goes thru ur search team), i seek redressal from you guys in whichever way you can provide. Social media is very powerful, and we dont need to remind ourselves of the same Hello to SearchWP support team, I have decided NOT to proceed with the yearly subscription of SearchWP plugin. I have tried the product for the last 4 days. It is a great software, but i have had some issues in customisation and coding
