8z 02/Dec Good evening.I think during the day you would have seen several charts from my side on WhatsApp regarding the statistics of my half-marathon run yesterday. I used all three mechanisms: Strava, my Garmin fitness watch, and the sports timing issued by the organizer. All these three tools had various statistics, and as you know, I finished my half-marathon race in two hours, forty-one minutes. This was pretty close to my personal best. If my memory is right, my personal best was two-thirty-seven, which was about twelve or thirteen years ago.I have lost nine kgs in the last year, perhaps because of which I was able to come close to my personal best. I really want to take this effort ahead and keep up my fitness journey. Sometime in life, I want to do two things: one is to break the two-hour thirty-minute barrier for the half-marathon, and the second aim is a bit ambitious—I want to somehow do the full marathon, hopefully at the Tata Full Marathon in Mumbai.I am posting this write-up to basically go through the qualitative aspects of my work yesterday: what were the various tasks I did and what were my feelings till the race ended.I had registered for the SBI Green Marathon because I missed the Canara Bank marathon, which is perhaps a larger event. That happened on the twenty-third of November, and I was expected to be in Chennai on that date to pick up my daughter from college. Therefore, I skipped registering for it. As a result, I registered for this thirtieth November event. In any case, I was taking refuge from any possibility of celebration for my birthday. With my mom’s demise, I did not want to celebrate by myself or with family. So, this half-marathon was a good getaway from all that. The price was also fairly economical. I think I paid about one thousand five hundred rupees for this half-marathon run. By the way, I have also registered for the next run on the fourteenth of December. It’s called the Thums at the same place, Nice Road, Hosakerehalli. On the twenty-ninth of November, the day before the race, I took the scooter and went one hour twenty minutes to a place called Begur Koppar Road. I went there immediately after my trek. I had done a trek with my VisKha friends to one of the hills with my children as well. They came back very tired in the afternoon at three PM. Immediately thereafter, I took the scooter and went to pick up my bib and running kit.I put the map on my Ather scooter and went through Old Airport Road, Bannerghatta Road, and took a left. It was fairly distant. I went through Silk Board junction and Bellandur. At about five PM, I picked up my bib and came back home by about seven PM. It was fairly tiring.Let me continue this video.
